December 2nd
So it is December already. I know I am a bad blogger and haven’t posted in forever. I’ll blame it on the notion that the initial excitement of blogging about what it was like living up here in the cold, in a place unlike where I had been before, has worn off… because now I live here, it’s where I return to as my home, and now I am living the daily life and don’t think of that many new and exciting things to blog about anymore. This is just the way it is and it’s alright.

He’s my hero. I basically stood outside for 2.5 hours maybe 2-3 weeks ago freezing my arse off being his support staff while he measured and cut the door to the right shape, reinforced it, installed the lock. Those were the big things that needed to get done still. The roof still has a crack at the peak where both sides meet but it’s covered in snow and ice right now that it might as well be reinforced by that. So it isn’t a pressing matter. I do need to add some wood planks under the sides of the roof where the walls meet the underside of the roofing because blowing snow has managed to get up there, and when we get into our major blizzards, the insides seriously could fill up with snow. I just returned in from yanking out the battery (maybe 2 weeks too late, oh well) from the quad so here’s a photo of the shed as is:

In other news, it has been unbelievably freaking cold here. It went from tolerable -5 to -10 temps to -40s with the wind chill almost overnight. It really isn’t supposed to be this cold right now, apparently we’re experiencing January/February temperatures and it’s only December 2nd. Last night walking home it was -47C (with wind chill) and went to -50C overnight. I am not sure what it is out now but it’s the wind that is killer. There isn’t even that much snow. Actually some days I think that the freak snow storms that Vancouver has been having gave them more snow than what we have here. Oh the craziness.
I was lucky enough to get an Aeroplan ticket out of here over the holidays (holy crap, only 4 more weeks before it’s Christmas) so I am using the last of my vacation to spend New Year’s Eve and the first week or so of January in Vancouver. SooooOOoOoooooOOOOOOoooo looking forward to it. I miss me some Vancouver.
Okay… few more random pics. It was probably 2:45pm when I took these so the sun was setting (it’s dark when I wake up and dark when I go home… think the sun is up from 830ish - 3pmish):
